This week in preschool...October 13- 17, 2014

You O Lord,  are good and forgiving.  Psalm 86:5
This week we learned about Joseph.  Joseph was one of Jacob's 12 sons.  Joseph was Jacob's favorite son, and Jacob gave Joseph a special coat and not the other sons.  The other brothers were angry, and they sold Joseph.  We learned that God took care of Joseph and had a plan for him.  God has a plan for us and He Care For Us, too. God is So Good!

This week we learned about the letter J and the sound that it makes.

In our small group we did our weaving frame to make add colorful ribbons, just as Joseph had a colorful coat.  Weaving helps the children with up and down, in and out, and using eye-hand coordination.

We also did a counting activity to put the correct number of cotton balls on the sheep. We made a picture to correspond with our family make up, and we compared our family size and number of boys/girls in our families.  We also did pattern matching, to incorporate that the material that clothes are made of feel different.

We did a candy corn experiment, to see what happens in water, when you microwave them and when you freeze them.

In Art, we made paper plate pumpkins. We incorporated science by using diluted starch on our paper first, then using water color to paint over the top to watch the colors run.  I wonder if Joseph's coat was that colorful.  We easel painted, and we made a sculpture from paper, and shaving cream and glue.  We also cut out a candy corn shape and finger painted it.

We are having so much fun with our WOW DAYS.

Shake It Out...Earthquake drill.....
We practiced what we should do if we had an earthquake, and we talked about what we would do if there was a fire, and if we hear the tornado siren.  We don't have to be scared, Jesus is with us.  We need to be good listeners and get to a safe place.

This week we read...
It's Pumpkin Time
Hibernation Station
The Littlest Pumpkin
Pumpkin, Pumpkin
The Runaway Pumpkin
