This week in preschool...October 27-31, 2014

(Jesus said,) "I am with you always."  Matthew 28:20
This week in Jesus Time we learned about Moses, and how God chose Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt.   The Israelites were like slaves, they were not treated nicely by the pharoah, and God heard the Israelites prayers, and He sent Moses to lead them out of Egypt.  The pharoah did not want the people to go and said "NO" 9 times, then, on the 10th time he said "GO", but later pharoah changed his mind and went after the Israelites.  God kept them safe, He led them with a cloud by day, and a pillar of fire by night, and when they got to the Red Sea, the waters parted and the Israelites crossed on dry ground, and when the Egyptians pursued,  God made the waters to go on top of them.  We did  various activities to go along with our theme.  We blew bubbles, to help us see that God used the wind to separate the waters of the Red Sea, we painted paper plates, then cut them to represent the parting of the Red Sea.  As we told the story we wore headbands and pretended to be the Israelites who were working very hard.

We used bingo dabbers to make different pumpkin pictures to go along with our Letter O.

This week in Art, we easel painted.

We made incredible curl pictures, where the children had to use either their finger or a writing utensil to wrap paper or a pipe cleaner around to make curls then glue it on their paper to make a 3-D sculpture.

Light Table...this week we have the magna tiles that can be connected to build different things.

Letter Oo... Owl, orange, onion, orange juice

We fingerpainted letter O's.

One of our small group activities was to use sand paper or felt to put yarn on, and make shapes or letters.

We worked on our Math skills, when we pretended to have a bus stop.  The children made tickets, purchased tickets, and waited at the bus stop for the bus to come.  This helped the children learn to recognize numbers.

We are very blessed to have 2 Kirkwood High School students doing their Child Development Practicums in our classroom.  They will be joining us until December.  It is such a great opportunity to be able to help them learn about preschoolers and hopefully foster a desire to pursue a career in education, and to share our faith with them.

Next week.. Letter Vv
