This week in preschool...November 16-20, 2015

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.  Colossians 3:15
Love your neighbor as yourself.  Matthew 19:19
This week we learned about David, the singing shepherd, David took care of sheep, and God takes care of us.  We also learned about God's love for Naomi and Ruth, even thought the story starts out sad, it has a happy ending.  Our caring God is in control.  He cares for us in everything!

Chapel...led by Mr. Butterfield.  "Think about the donut not the hole."  Let's think about what we have, not about what we don't have.

This week in Art, we made Thanksgiving headbands, where we used our fine motor skills to place a feather into the headband.

We made a black and white collage.

We finger painted with sparkle finger paint.

We made a Fantastic Foil picture, which was fun making the foil into different shapes, then dipping into the glue, and making a collage.

We easel painted.

In our centers this week, we played Thanksgiving Bingo, which helps us with visual discrimination.

We made a S.T.E.M. pom pom drop.  We had to figure out which pom poms would fit into the tubes, then try to see how to arrange the tubes to get the pom poms to fall through all the tubes.

Using Manipulatives...
Manipulatives provide an opportunity for the child to:

  • group, sort, and match different objects
  • improve fine motor control and eye-hand coordination
  • develop visual discrimination skills
  • practice problem solving
  • enjoy the manipulation of various materials
  • develop number and math skills

We used our sense of hearing to match sound shakers, and play a sound bag game.

We made friendship bracelets, and used our fine motor skills to put beads onto a pipe cleaner.
