This week in preschool...April 21-25, 2014

He is not here, for He has risen as He said.  Matthew 28:6

He is Risen!  He is Risen, Indeed!  Alleluia!

This week in Jesus Time we are celebrating Easter and that Jesus is alive!  He died and rose again to take our sins away.

We made Easter lily flowers from our handprint.  The Easter lily is shaped like a trumpet, and we have great news to share...Jesus is alive!  We made caterpillars using craft sticks and pom poms, then we added eyes.  After making our caterpillars we made symmetric butterflies.  We learned that they are the same on both sides and when we hold a mirror up we can see the other side by using the mirror.  We also tried it with our feet.  We easel painted and we painted rocks.  Butterflies symbolize new life, just like Jesus came out of the tomb, a butterfly comes out of the cocoon.  We painted rocks to remind us of the stone that was rolled away and then we can use them as prayer rocks. Everyday Jesus hears us when we pray, so each morning put it on your pillow and when you get ready for bed it will be there to remind you to pray, then each night put it on the floor, and it will remind you each morning to pray.

This week in small group we had an egg hunt, and we played a memory game to see if we could tell which egg was missing from the tray.  We played a literacy/rhyming game called "A Bone to Pick", where we had to use our cutting skills to cut apart the bones, then we matched the rhyming words.  We played a literacy/matching game called"Alphabet Munch",where we had Alphabits cereal and matched the letters to the alphabet mat, then we got to eat them, and we practiced forming our numbers by driving along them with a car.
