This week in preschool...January 8-10, 2014

The Lord has fulfilled His promise that He made.  2 Chronicles 6:10
God kept His promise to send Jesus, our Savior.  He forgives us when we forget He is in control.
We read from the Children's Bible about Simeon and Anna, who had been waiting many years to see the Christ Child.  They learned that Gods keeps His promises.

Oh Come, let us worship and bow down.  Psalm 95:6
We also read about the Wise Men that followed the star in the East to come and worship Jesus. They brought gifts of frankincense, gold, and myrrh.  After the Wise Men worshiped Jesus they returned home by another way, and did not return to Herod.

Welcome Back!  I pray that you had a blessed Christmas and New Year!  This week has been great fun, even though, we had two snow days.

In Art, we made snowflakes out of coffee filters, which helps us learn shapes, folding , and work on our cutting skills.  We made star pictures, using cookie cutters, and dipping them in white paint and putting it on black paper.  We made popsicle snowflakes, by gluing them into a snowflake shape and adding glitter.  We had to count out 4 popsicle sticks, and using a paint brush helps us learn to hold a pencil.  We talked about how no two snowflakes are alike, just like people.

In Center Time/Small group this week we are working on our names.  We find our name tag, then we take it to the light table and find the letters to spell our name.  We brought snow in and colored it with markers.  Then our snow melted.  What a great way to incorporate science!   We have white play dough, that we can make stars, snowmen, and snowballs.  We used our iPads to count, sort, and find which kind of candy has more or less in the bag. At the block center the friends work cooperatively to make some magnificent creations.

This week we read...
Snip, Snip, Snow!
Winter is Here!
Ten on the Sled
No Two Alike

Book orders were sent home on Wednesday and Thursday, I will be submitting the order on January 15.

Those children that come to school on Friday, January 17, we will be making our snowman from collected items from home.  We will be reading Snowballs by Lois Ehlert, and the children then make there own snowman from the items that they bring in from home.  I will be sending a bag home for them to collect their treasures in.

Those children that come to school on Tuesday, January 21 will need to bring a clean plastic milk jug, gallon or half gallon is fine, we are going to be making more snowmen.

Please check your child's box of extra clothes to make sure they are the correct season and size.
