This week in preschool...December 16-20, 2013

Glory to God in the highest!  Luke 2:14

This week in Jesus Time we have been reading Arch books:  Mary's Christmas Story, Joseph's Christmas Story, The Shepherd's Christmas, and we read The Pine Tree Parable, as we continue to learn about our Savior's birth.  Jesus is the BEST GIFT!    I invite you to join us at one of our partnering churches for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services, if you do not have a church home.  A note was sent home from Mrs. Shirley that lists all the service times at each church.  May the love of Christ shine in your lives this Christmas season.

This week we have been busy finishing our parent gifts and wrapping them so they are ready and waiting under the Christmas tree.  We made model magic ornaments, we rolled them out then used cookie cutters to make Christmas shapes, and after they were dry we painted them.  We also easel painted.

In Small Group, we made patterns with rubber stamps, and we made bead candy canes, which helped our fine motor skills, and more patterning.  Patterning helps us build our math skills.

We had the 5th graders come and read Christmas stories to us.

When we choose the block center we learn to engage in meaningful work, and improve our small and large motor coordination. We learn to share ideas and work together in a group, and develop concepts such as big/little, more than/ less than, equal to, shape, size, color, etc.  We express our creativity, and experience open ended thinking.

We played Christmas Bingo!

We sang for the Young at Heart group Christmas luncheon, and shared the love of Christ through song.

This week we read:
Is It Christmas?
Christmas Kisses
Pete the Cat Saves Christmas
The 12 Days of Christmas
Bear Stays Up
S is for Snowman, God's Wintertime Alphabet
Away in a Manger
The Friendly Beasts
Silent Night
Oh Come Little Children

God's Blessings to each of you this Christmas!  See you in January!
