This week in Preschool...March 10-14, 2014

Jesus came.....to save sinners.  1 Timothy 1:15

This week we learned about Zacchaeus.  Zacchaeus was a tax collector and he took more money than he should have.  One day Jesus was coming to his town, and he wanted to see Jesus also, but he was a short man, and he could not see above or around the crowds, so he came up with a plan to climb a tree to see.  As Jesus was walking by he saw Zacchaeus in that tree and told him to come down, as Jesus wanted to go to Zacchaeus' house.  Jesus loved Zacchaeus and He loves us, we are all sinners, and He forgives us all.  We learned that Zacchaeus was sorry for taking other peoples money, and he paid them back and he was forgiven.  We had Zacchaeus and Jesus tubes that helped us tell  the story and we were able to use them at exploring time this week, and then the children got to bring them home.

This week we made name necklaces, with letter beads, and other beads.  This  helped us practice spelling our names, and use our fine motor skills to put the beads on the string.

We made paint pallets from egg cartons and used q-tips as our paint brushes to try a new painting technique.

We made rainbow toast by painting colored milk on our bread, then we toasted it.

We used frosting to finger paint, and we easel painted.

In our small group this week, we used a piece of yarn the same length that each child was and found objects in the classroom that were the same length, they were given homework to see if they could find items in their homes that were the same length also.  The children made name puzzles to help reinforce them learning their names and spelling them.

We did a science experiment of magic milk painting.  We put a few drops of food coloring in a bowl of milk, then we dipped a q-tip into dish detergent and the colors radiate away from the q-tip.

We practiced our cutting skills, and we made our names using rubber stamps and writing them on the wipe boards.

We finally got to go outside and play!  Thank You God for the sunshine and the warm temperatures!

We continue to enjoy our coffee sand sensory table, books, puzzles, our writing center, train table, and our housekeeping area.

This week we are reading books from the author Laura Numeroff....

If You Give a Moose a Muffin
If You Give a Pig a Pancake
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie

If You Give a Dog a Donut
If You Give a Cat a Cupcake
If You Give a Pig a Party

Next week is Spring Break!  Enjoy!  School resumes on Monday, March 24!
