This week in preschool....April 28- May 2, 2014

He cares for you.  1 Peter 5:7

This week we have been learning about Jesus cooking breakfast for the disciples.  Peter, James and John went fishing, and they had been fishing all night and they did not catch anything.  Early in the morning Jesus was standing on the shore and He told them to put their nets on the other side of the boat, when they did their nets were full.  Jesus cared for the disciples.  Jesus then cooked some of the fish for the disciples for breakfast.  Jesus takes care of us too, He provides us with everything that we need.

This week in art we made ponds by cutting out our own pond and then painting it with blue corn syrup, and then we added different colored poms for duck, geese, and flamingos.  We made grass headbands, and cut them to have blades of grass, then we decorated them with stickers or drew pictures of living things that we find in the grass.  We made ladybugs, paper plate fish, and pained at the easel.

In small group this week we made number caterpillars, and we wrote the numbers 1-9 and glued them in numerical order to make a number caterpillar.  We did M & M math, where we sorted, patterned, and counted M&M's. then we got to eat them!  We measured rods, (different sized pipe cleaners) and put them in size order.  We went fishing and learned about force, velocity, and distance.  We are watching a lima bean sprout by putting it in a wet paper tower, and a plastic bag, and putting it in the window.

Next week is our Scholastic book fair, which will be held in the Concordia Youth Room, which is next door to our classroom.  Volunteers are needed.  A flier was sent home on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Please stop by.  If you are unable to visit the book fair you may order online.

Please join us on Monday or Tuesday morning, May 12 and 13 for a special time to celebrate mom.  We will open the doors at 8:10, and we will have muffins and coffee available for moms and the children have a special surprise for you.  It is very informal, a nice way to share a little special one on one time with your child.
